The UK's ultimate guide to Nova Scotia property and buying real estate in Canada's Atlantic playground
Weather
The weather in Nova Scotia is not unlike that in England, with the
winters slightly colder and longer. Bright sunny days make the winter
months seem less gloomy than in England, and the cold is often dry and
crisp. Snow is common, and winter sports are popular. Temperatures
range from -15 C to +4 C (+5 to +40 F). Along the coast, the winters
are more moderate.
Temperatures during the coolish Spring season range from 6 to 15 C (42 to 60 F). The pleasant summers are not too hot, and temperatures above 30 C (86 F) are rare, with the days ranging between 16 to 25 C (60-80 F), and the evenings warm and long (17 to 22 C/64 to 74 F). On the whole, temperatures are cooler closer to the seaside.
Autumn features spectacular foliage displays as leaves change to brilliant oranges and reds. The “Indian summer” can last well into October, and many Nova Scotia natives consider “Fall” the best season of the year.
