Nova Scotia properties for sale

The UK's ultimate guide to Nova Scotia property and buying real estate in Canada's Atlantic playground

Accommodation

Nova Scotia offers a wide variety of quality accommodation for visitors to the province. In addition to hotels and B&Bs, with which visitors from the UK will be familiar, there are also slightly more unusual alternatives, such as a hunting or fishing lodge, or the wilderness experience at a campground accessible only by canoe or kayak.

For those unfamiliar North American-style accommodations, the following definitions might be helpful.

Motel: three or more units, all ensuite, and all with direct, external access, meaning that you don’t have to go through a lobby or reception area to reach your room.
Motor inn: six or more units, all ensuite; the ground floor units will have external access. Unlike many motels, a motor inn will have a café or restaurant and
Housekeeping unit: accommodation with an equipped kitchen
Cabin: a freestanding bedsitting unit, with a bathroom; may or may not have a kitchen
Cottage: a freestanding unit with one or more bedrooms, a bathroom, plus a kitchen.

The Canada Select programme rates accommodation according to the facilities and services offered. Canada Select star ratings are defined as follows:

*Modest
**Moderate
***Above average
****Exceptional
*****Luxurious

Bed & Breakfast accommodation is readily available throughout the province. www.nsbedandbreakfast.com is the official website of the Nova Scotia Bed and Breakfast Association. Although the breakfast offered may sometimes be similar to a traditional full English breakfast, more often they’ll feature a range of local treats: blueberry pancakes, muffins, hot-smoked salmon, home-made granola and the like.
